The Premium Online Savings Account

Since 23/06/2015, the interest rates of the Online Premium Saving Account are identical to the interest rates of the Classic Saving Account. For this reason, it will no longer be possible to open yourself an Online Premium Account.

In brief, what is it?

A regulated* savings account that allows you to dress up as a scrooge or an ant.
To launch a project, you feed your Premium Online Savings Account whenever you want, and you let it multiply.

And when it’s time to begin a project, you take your money back. That’s it.

Premium Savings
  • A free savings account. Costs nothing; it yields.
  • A loyalty premium is calculated on every deposit that stays in the account for 12 months consecutively without interruption.
  • Money that multiplies annually.
  • A long-term vision for your plans.
  • The ability to check your savings anywhere, any time.

Some reading before you open an account: “Essential Information for Savers”.
Note: this document and the 'Special Terms and Conditions of the Premium Online Savings Account' mention a minimum deposit of €12.500. However, given the current market rates the basic interest and loyalty premium stated are valid irrespective of the account balance.

*A regulated savings account marketed by BNP Paribas Fortis SA/NV under Belgian law, Montagne du Parc 3, B-1000 Brussels – Brussels Register of Companies – VAT BE 0403.199.702. The Premium Online Savings account  is a product of indefinite duration.

Loyalty premium

The base interest rate (0,01% gross annually) is calculated per day.

The loyalty premium is 0,10%. The loyalty premium is calculated on every deposit that stays in the account for 12 months consecutively without interruption.

The base rate and the loyalty premium may fluctuate depending on variations in market conditions or any modifications on the legally authorized limits.

No bad surprises. If the base rate and/or loyalty premiums are modified, you’ll be kept informed with by a notice included with your bank statements.
That way, you always stay informed and you’re ready to go.

Fiscal advantages

You don’t pay any taxes on interest accrued up to €1.880 (in 2017).
For married couples or cohabitants who open a joint savings account, it’s double the fun, €3.760.
If interest exceeds €1.880, a tax of 15% is paid on additional amounts.

Risk for the saver

In case of bankruptcy or risk of bankruptcy of the concerned financial institution, the saver risks to lose his savings or he can be submitted to a diminishment/conversion in stocks (Bail-in) of the claim the saver  has on the financial institution, for the amount that exceeds the saving deposit guarantee of €100.000.
